Before deciding on your driveway landscaping, decide the type of entrance you want for your driveway. Your entrance could be grand or simple. It all depends on your taste and the look you want for your house. The driveway should be made to match the entrance. For your entrance you can use wrought iron gates if you ant a grand entrance, wooden gates show a simple earthy look. Flowering plants when added to an entrance give a soft natural look.
Once you have decided on your entrance you will know the general look you want for your landscape. From here you can start working on your driveway. Since a driveway landscaping makes a first impression on the driver about the property it is important to decide on a design that is in harmony with your house.
A driveway connects the house to the main road so a driveway can be made of tar or concrete like the roads. However if funds are low you can use gravel to make your driveway. For driveway landscaping, if you are using gravel to make your driveway you will have to consider some factors. In areas where it snows and snow has to be removed from driveways gravel can be a problem. It is shoveled with the snow and will have to be later removed from the lawn. Gravel when first used isn’t very easy to walk on but with time it packs down. While using gravel always put heavy gravel at the base and lighter at the top. At a later stage if you decide to make a concrete driveway the gravel can function as a base.
Flowers along the sides of the driveway create a welcoming impression of driveway landscaping. You can add flowers in pots throughout the sides of the driveway. If you want a permanent supply of flowers you can make flower beds along the sides. In large houses the driveway can also be lined with trees. Another way to add green element without trees is by putting up pots on both sides of the driveway at regular intervals.
Lighting also plays an important part in creating a good first impression. An aesthetically placed light on the sides of your driveway creates illumination and also helps in guiding visitors to the house. Driveway landscaping make use of materials that are able to withstand your weather conditions.
